This TERM of learning

I started to write this after returning from NZ playing hockey in week 3, it is now the end of week 10 and so much has happened in my IT world, both on the pedagogy front and changes at school.

PEDAGOGY

After spending a week at hockey I came back motivated to follow more IT directions. Sounds weird but it wasn't the hockey, I connected with another like-minded IT educationalist, the coach. Nikki (http://sportynikstar.wordpress.com/) has sent me heaps of links and ideas that I knew were out there but hadn't had the time to investigate, she is studying her masters and spends a ridiculous amount of time reading and posting links. Many of the links give worked examples used just like I would use them.  The two I have connected to and have used already are:

https://www.smore.com/app - an app that allows you to make flyers and newsletters, I have even created flyers to attach to our school website.

http://www.edcanvas.com/ - an app that will run in chrome and allows you to collect a variety of different media in a coherent way, use for students and teachers.

One of the other links that really struck a chord with me was, “If students design their own schools” http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=RElUmGI5gLc&feature=youtu.be, this gave me as many questions as it did answers, but allowed me to really open up my thinking of how the classroom will look in the future, some of my questions are:

How do the students get to this level of skill to be able to frame a question for a week?

How would this fit with the National curriculum?

How do you assess them – how is intrinsic learning valued "in the world"?
